I kinda laughed when I saw the elk. 'Cause if I had a dream like this, I'd be going after it with a pointy stick and a bag of marshmallows... lol

The comparison to Dali makes me feel kinda honoured, thanks a lot. :) But it wasn't my intention to copy that subject or something. Just a part out of a dream, that's it.

You can actually feel the depth of it. A simple copy wouldn't feel so real.

The closest riverside and the background looks very cool. Maybe it's a plant or maybe something else but to me t reminds me creepy creatures live on the surface of the water near the riverbank and from time to time hunting in the jungle - something like big colony of blue caterpillars.
Generally I think blue colour suits perfectly.
Deer looks very symbolic - like some kind of god revelation. :D
It looks like eerie dream.

Always interesting to get some interpretations! Never seen it like this.
I'm pretty glad by the way, that you've recognized the symbolic character in it! In my head, that's the most important aspect. A "Main-Feeling" so to say.
The sad thing is, that it only shows a little piece out of that dream.... i can't remember the whole story itself. Only this "Moment-Shot". Nothing before'n afterwards.

It's amazing to paint a dreams, even a part of it or little piece - no matter. Well it's quite frustrating to forgot rest of the parts but at least one fragment still remains. Who knows? - maybe it was the most important one? It's kind of visions hunting and transfer it on/into some material stuff.

When I first time saw your painting I heard instantly music from Neurosis "A Season In The Sky" and words in my head:
"I had a vision last night, my god was glowing
There was another bridge on fire
And the last wrecks were counted
The sky opened and the blood flowed
A distant cancerous season was upon me
I had a hook in my back and a light to guide me
My words were useless again".
:D

To be honest, i was kinda afraid before. It's just impossible to reanimate a dream into some visuals (or any kinda medium), without a loss of information or feeling. It may be amazing, but, in my opinion, you have to pay a high price for it at the end.

Have to say, that i feel kinda honoured to hear that it has some Neurosis relation. :D The Deal is, that i had the same feeling.... but i guess, that it's somekinda psychological suggestion based on the "Given to the Rising"-LP-Artwork. :)

Good point. It's impossible to transfer our thoughts into art in exact way but I think process of trying is worth of doing. I suppose the gap between our dreams and realisation has a high price but what else can we do? I think doing nothing is even worse than partially unsatisfied actions.

For me Neurosis music is really dark, terrestrial (so to speak) - like the ground or cave or desert. Anyway: I think your art-work standing independent and need no references to any other art-works. Of course some automatic associations are possible.

That's right of course! At least you can try! With an high price, i meant that you may get disappointed at the end, cause you weren't able to transfer the feeling itself in a proper way. The worst case would be, that you've ruined the whole dream at the end. For myself it was a good step forward to try it... it may doesn't comes close to the "original", but i'm kinda fine with the result.

Same with Neurosis in here, buddy. :) Like you said: Sometimes you're not able to avoid those "automatic associations". ;) Thanks for your kind words!

I think I know what you mean: When I used to draw I always try to capture certain mood or transfer my visions on the paper but not every time I was successful. Problem is: drawing has a technique limitations (like everything) and other limitations, it takes some time to complete it. During this process many things may be lost or forgotten. This was the main reason why I started photographing but even here I have similar limitations and obstacles. Sure - photographing is faster, I don't have to draw myself everything but the main problem is: to find right place on the right time.

Right right... even Photography's only a try to capture a so called reality. A form of interpretation so to say. Like any other medium. But like we said before: It's worth to try it! :)
